Scout Meeting 23/11/09 - Investitures & a Presentation!

Investitures
Wood Badge

Hi All,

During our Scout meeting on Monday 23rd November 2009 we had plenty to celebrate as we Invested 1 Scout, 1 Young Leader, 2 Explorer Young Leaders and yours truly received his Wood Badge.

Vincent, who joins us from the Cubs, was Invested into the Scouts in the traditional way by placing his left hand over the Union & Group flags and making the Scout salute with his right hand whilst reciting the Promise.

We also Invested Jason as a Young Leader and Elle & Nicola as Explorer Young Leaders.

Welcome all to the worldwide family of Scouting.

Dave Evans, District Training Advisor, was also invited along to present me (Adam) with my Wood Badge. Hooray!

The Wood Badge is a Scouting program and Award for adults in the Scout associations around the world. The Wood Badge course is designed so that adult Scouters can learn; in as practical a way possible, the skills and methods of Scouting. On completion, participants are still awarded the beads to recognize the significant achievement in leadership and direct service to young people, and to welcome them to membership of 1st Gilwell Park Scout Group.

After all of the Investitures & presentations, we got the Scouts to practice putting up some tents in the light and then outside in the dark, in preparation for the Autumn Camp.

The evening was finished off with everyone receiving several pieces of lovely cake.

Scouting is fun!

All the best,

The Scout Leaders
