Training Camp May 2010

Hi All,

During the weekend of 30th April to 2nd May, we held our first Leader's training camp at Beaudesert.

The idea behind the camp was to offer a training/refresher course on basic camp matters to the less experienced members of the team so that they become more profficient in the future.

Topics covered included;

changing a gas bottle
replacing a gas mantle
erecting various tents including the large marquee and dining shelter
making a chopping square
axe & saw safety
fire building & lighting
camp organisation
cooking
burners & stoves
making a wet pit

The camp was also thrown open to our Patrol Leaders in order for them to gain some more experience.

The weather was kind when it mattered and the camp was a big success.

We would like to make this a regular event over the coming years.
